A wonderfully lively necklace describes this necklace of human-dyed turquoise beads. Artists begin with the beads in their natural blue-green color and permanently transform the beads into many colors. This necklace has subtle shades of orange, light tangerine, and many shades in between. Cylinders of naturally occurring orange coral shell finish off the design.
Turquoise generally comes from dry and barren regions that have acidic groundwater, such as Afghanistan, China, Egypt, Iran, and Tibet. Ancient Egyptians called it “mefkat” which means joy.
