Nuggets of natural shades of amber from creamy pale yellow to dark reddish orange are combined to create a rich display in this extra-long necklace. The amber pendant, 1 ½” x ¾” at its widest part, sparkles as the light catches on multiple pieces of organic matter embedded from long ago.
Amber is a naturally occurring fossilized botanic resin that is formed from the synthesis of plants and trees. Occasionally amber is discovered that has embedded pieces of organic matter, as do the pendant and earrings of this set, making it unique and one of a kind.
Baltic amber is considered the best. It was formed from coniferous trees some 30-60 million years ago. Amber was used in the ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian empires more than 4,500 years ago both as a decoration and also to help cure illness. Many believe that amber can assist with diminishing the effects of light deprivation during winter. It is believed that amber brings a sense of well-being and health since it carries the vibration of organic life, making it supposedly helpful in recovering from illness.
